“That boy had been there a long time.” 13. “It was a nice fight on 4-pound-test, believe me,” said Isaac. Isaac’s crappie not only smashed the previous state record, which was a 3-pound 13-ouncer, but it’s the largest crappie ever caught in New York, as it also topped the current state record black crappie, which is 4-pounds and 1-ounce. New York angler Roy Isaac caught a state record 4-pound, 7-ounce white crappie while fishing at a private lake called Sleepy Hollow. The Empire State Crappie Roy Isaac shows off his record panfish. Oldest Fish Ever? North Dakota State University researcher Alec Lackmann with a 112-year-old bigmouth buffalo. “They’re the ultimate fishing challenge… I can’t even describe how excited we all were.” 11. “Muskies are the ultimate predators,” said Sprengeler. Sprengeler landed a 55-pound, 14.8-ounce monster on the last cast of the night, breaking a highly sought-after 64-year record. They had to smash some ice at the boat launch, but it was worth it. He and his buddies were fishing Lake Mille Lacs this November, right before the lake iced for winter. Nolan Sprengeler had to break the ice-literally-to boat the new Minnesota state record muskie. Monster Muskie Nolan Sprengeler’s record muskie weighed over 55 pounds. Georgia angler Wendell Mathis caught a bluegill that weighed nearly a pound and a half (1-pound, 7.8-ounces, to be precise) that easily beat out a decade-old Georgia Outdoor News record. This is the smallest record fish on our list, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t impressive. Bluegill for the Win Wendell Mathis with his record bluegill. Beginner’s Luck Captain Bobby Sullivan helps Luis Martinez (center) lift his record-breaking Chinook landed, while the angler’s sister, Abe Martinez, shows off a 12-pounder. Burruss caught the fish in Northern California’s Clear Lake, which is known for its big largemouths, but quite clearly also holds some monster panfish. The 4-pound, 5.44-ounce black crappie toppled the previous record, which was a 4-pound, 1-ounce fish that had stood for 46 years. In one of the first records to fall in 2021, California angler David Burruss boated an absolute slab of a black crappie in February. The California Slab David Burruss with the California state record crappie. Out of the millions of fish caught this year, only 20 trophies made this list. There were also some lesser-known but equally impressive records caught-such as the bowfishing world-record paddlefish and a spearfishing world-record halibut. Some truly impressive long-standing records were broken this year, including a 43-year-old Michigan state-record chinook and a 64-year-old Minnesota muskie record. Who doesn’t like a big fish story? Well, these are the biggest fish stories of 2021.

(Assume for this analysis that you use the commission-based approach the percentages change dramatically in the booth model.)Īs for other ongoing expenses, they include your stylists' share of payroll taxes, 7.6% of sales (health insurance and other fringe benefits are uncommon) rent and property taxes (from 3% for a remote location to 10% in a well-trafficked mall) supplies, between 2% and 8% marketing and advertising, 2% to 5% maintenance, 3% and insurance, 2%.įinally, if you want to stay on the cutting edge, you'll need some sort of in-house training program. Expect these staffing costs to snip off around 10% of sales. You'll need support staffers, too: hair washers, appointment takers, stylists in training and someone to watch the books. (Some stylists like this model better because they don't have to wait every two weeks to get paid.) Here, the salon owner acts as a landlord, charging stylists a certain amount of "rent" each week to use a chair. The second option is the "booth rental" model. "If you're paying more than 50% in commissions, you're not making any money," says Cary O'Brien of the eponymous St. For example, a stylist might keep 40% of the first $1,000 she brings in per week, and 5% more for each additional $1,000. Some salons use a graduated commission scale to encourage stylists to lure more customers. Commissions typically range from 35% to 60%. In the commission-based model, each stylist receives a percentage of what he or she brings in. You can compensate stylists one of two ways. Once up and running, your biggest expense is people. And don't forget the operations software and supplies. Expect to slog through six to nine months before operating at full capacity with stylists, hair washers and secretarial staff. You will probably eat several months of rent while getting set up. Super high-end salons in ritzy ZIP codes might gobble up to $300 a square foot in start-up costs. Fitting out a space from scratch will run between $75 and $125 per square foot, depending how stylish the design. To fit that many chairs, you'll need at least 1,000 square feet. Still, there are economies of scale in this business, so a good bet is to have at least five or six chairs (and the same number of stylists). Smaller beauty salons with marquee stylists can make good money with only a handful of chairs. How much will I need to shell out in start-up costs and ongoing expenses? Calibre Cloud (free) and Calibre Cloud Pro (paid), apps by Intrepid Logic that let one "access your Calibre e-book library from anywhere in the world.Since version 1.15, released in December 2013, Calibre also contains an application to create and edit e-books directly, similar to the more full-featured editor tools of the Sigil application, but without the latter's WYSIWYG editing mode. Also, if the Calibre library on the host computer is stored in a cloud service, such as Box.net, Google Drive, or Dropbox, then either the cloud service or a third-party app, such as Calibre Cloud or CalibreBox, can remotely access the library. This can be accomplished via a web browser, if the host computer is running and the device and host computer share the same network in this case, pushing harvested content from content sources is supported on a regular interval (called 'subscription'). Mailing e-books enables, for example, sending personal documents to the Amazon Kindle family of e-readers and tablet computers. E-books can then be exported to all supported reading devices via USB, Calibre's integrated mail server, or wirelessly. This conversion is facilitated by so-called recipes, short programs written in a Python-based domain-specific language. Also, online content can be harvested and converted to e-books. Į-books can be imported into the Calibre library, either by sideloading files manually or by wirelessly syncing an e-book reading device with the cloud storage service in which the Calibre library is backed up, or with the computer on which Calibre resides. Full text search is available from Calibre 6.0 onwards. It is possible to search the Calibre library by various fields, such as author, title, or keyword. Metadata can be pulled from many different sources, e.g., online booksellers and providers of free e-books and periodicals in the US and elsewhere, such as the Internet Archive, Munsey's Magazine, and Project Gutenberg and social networking sites for readers, such as Goodreads and LibraryThing. Ĭalibre allows users to sort and group e-books by metadata fields. Calibre does not natively support DRM removal, but may allow DRM removal after installing plug-ins with such a function. Conversion and editing are easily applied to appropriately licensed digital books, but commercially purchased e-books may need to have digital rights management (DRM) restrictions removed. Most e-book formats can be edited, for example, by changing the font, font size, margins, and metadata, and by adding an auto-generated table of contents. Features Ĭalibre supports many file formats and reading devices. In 2008, the program, for which a graphical user interface was developed, was renamed "calibre", displayed in all lowercase. With support from the MobileRead forums, Goyal reverse-engineered the proprietary Broad Band eBook ( BBeB) file format. On 31 October 2006, when Sony introduced its PRS-500 e-reader, Kovid Goyal started developing libprs500, aiming mainly to enable use of the PRS-500 formats on Linux. Books in other formats like MOBI must first be converted to those formats, if they are to be edited. Editing books is supported for EPUB and AZW3 formats. Calibre supports organizing existing e-books into virtual libraries, displaying, editing, creating and converting e-books, as well as syncing e-books with a variety of e-readers. I just got this printer as a replacement to a printer that broke down which was under an extended warranty. It does not allow me even create a custom size. The problem is my HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Series driver/software doesn't allow me to print any size I want. I'm a designer so coming up with the envelope or any shape or size paper or envelope is no problem. I am only sharing what worked for me, and as such, I cannot guarantee that any products or processes will give you the same results.I am able to design any envelope I want from Microsoft Office/Word and various illustrator software. The information contained on this Website and the resources available for download through this website are for educational and informational purposes only. If you’re having trouble with the Plain Paper setting, try it as Envelope and see what happens. If you’ve set the Media Type to envelope and it’s causing issues, try changing it to Plain Paper. Or it causes paper jams, tears or other headaches. Either it limits the page sizes you can choose from and you can’t find your particular envelope size in the list. I’m not sure why, but I have found that choosing Envelope as the Media Type causes issues. When printing envelopes, I never change the Media Type in my settings – I always leave it set to Plain Paper. Three | You’re choosing the wrong media type Go into your settings and type in the exact measurements of your envelopes in the Printer Paper Size field. So, when you load envelopes in your printer and hit ‘print’ without setting a custom paper size, it thinks you’re still using US Letter (or A4) printer paper.Īnd that causes all sorts of alignment problems. Printers always assume you’re printing on standard printer paper, even if the document size is smaller than that. Nine out of ten times, it’s because you didn’t set the right paper size. If you’re still having trouble with size or alignment, then there’s something messing things up in your printer settings. Two | You didn’t set the paper size in your printer settings Usually, you can find it as a PDF on the manufacturer’s website. But if you don’t have your manual anymore, Google your printer model along with the word “manual”. Since envelopes come in all sorts of uncommon sizes, ideally you want to be able to type a custom paper size in your printer settings, rather than having to choose from a select list.Īll this information can be found in your printer manual. A lot of printers let you specify any paper size, as long as it falls within the allowed range. If you plan to print A7 envelopes, for example, you need to make sure that A7 Envelope is listed as a “Standard Size” or the envelope measurements (in this case 5 ¼” x 7 ¼”) fall within the range of allowed paper sizes. Every printer has a list of page sizes it allows. It just means that your printer wasn’t designed with envelopes in mind – so the process might be a little trickier. But even if envelopes aren’t listed, that doesn’t mean you can’t print them. If your printer specifically says it prints envelopes, that’s great! This should be easy. There should be a list of media types, such as plain paper, envelopes, t-shirt transfers, etc., that are allowed. I know, who actually reads their printer manual? But if you want to print your own envelopes at home, you need to make sure your printer can actually do it.Ī lot can’t and you don’t know that until after you’ve spent hours trying to figure out what’s going wrong. Most of the time it has to do with one these three not-so-little things: One | You didn’t read your printer manual Over the years I’ve seen it all: the text is completely out of alignment, the address is twice the size it should be, there are ink stains everywhere and those stinkin’ envelopes keep jamming inside the printer. 3 Big Reasons Your Printer is Not Printing on Envelopes That number was just 686 on the same day last year and has more than trebled since the start of 2021 alone. That switch has already happened to some extent with FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) and people are already paying good money to get their hands on the best players on FIFA. In an increasingly digital world, it’s only natural that these will ultimately take on a new, digitised form. Here is a list of 77 Jews who died in the 911 attack (a partial list of ~350+ Jews who apparently died in the attacks): We now have lists of some of the Jews who died in the attacks, including this list of these 76 Jews who died, for whom we have names and brief biographies. I quit when I got to 300-400 and threw down the magazine in disgust. I started counting the obviously Jewish names on the list to see if there was anything to the rumor. On a whim, I decided to test out the “no Jews died in the 9-11 attacks” theory. At any rate, one wonders just how many Israelis worked in the WTC on any given day? The number could not have been large.Īt a bookstore, reading a magazine, I once saw a list of all 3,000+ victims of the 9-11 attacks. This sounds highly improbable to say the least. It is true that only one Israeli died, but why is this so important? The argument would have to be that the Israelis saved their own Israeli Jews from the attack but left hundreds of Diaspora Jews to die. I estimate that 10-15% of the victims of 9-11 were Jews. There is no evidence that even one Jew who worked in the towers was warned to stay home that day, nor did any Jew, or any other WTC worker, stay home from work that day due to a forewarning. The problem with this theory is that it is apparently based on lies. Israeli involvement in the plot remains to be proven, though hazy Israeli foreknowledge that something suspicious was afoot seems to be a reasonable conclusion. How could only one Jew die in the attack? Surely there is something suspicious about that.īoth of these theories, the thousands of Jews being forewarned and only one Jew dying are based on the theory that the 9-11 attack was actually carried out by the Israelis or that the Israelis were involved in it somehow. Obviously the WTC must have had many Jewish workers at work that day. This seems highly dubious to say the least. But the argument would have to be that these 4,000 Jewish workers were not only warned ahead of time by the Israelis, but they also neglected to tell even one single person of this warning and furthermore, they did not warn any non-Jews or the plot nor did they inform authorities. The argument continues that 4,000 Jewish workers who worked in the towers stayed home from work that day, presumably because they had been warned by the Israelis that the WTC would be attacked. Although many were understandably dubious of this charge, we lacked hard evidence to refute it until recently. So goes a popular theory/rumor that began going around the Arab and Muslim World soon after the attacks. “Not one Jew was killed in the 9-11 attacks, and the World Trade Center is full of Jewish workers.” |
